Psalm 71 Reflections



Age approaches; grey hair, softening skin, weakening voice.

Yet within me burns brighter by the day, the Word of Life.

I have sought the wisdom of humanity.

Theology; the ponderings of the Divine.

Philosophy; our objective and subjective truths of life.

Psychology; the conscious and subconscious concepts of the mind.

Humanity claims knowledge of them all.

But You, Oh God, have taught me from my youth.

Your wisdom surpasses all human knowing.

We know with our minds, and seek with our touch,

But You place Your truth deep into the very being of the believer.

So even in my old age, greying hair and slowing body,

I will proclaim Your mighty word unto the young.

Hear me speak of and live out Your glory to all those to come,

Just as those who came before did for me.

For though my days grow few on this earth,

Though I am but a mere fragment in time,

I will live forever with You, my Lord, my Lover, my True Friend.

For You, Oh God, are the One my heart longs for...
